  • Sep. 8, 2025 - Carolyn Brown, retired educator of Port Arthur, Texas, will highlight selections from her book, LIFE ON THE LAND: Memoir of a Farmer's Daughter. about growing up on a farm near Powderly before becoming an urban educator. Reviewers consider this book an inspirational look at life through the eyes of a black child during a time when "cotton was king." Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Plan now to attend this very informative meeting.

  • Oct. 13, 2025 - Frank Stubblefield, elderly citizen of Bogata, tells his recollections of the Red River County community known as Center Point, a place that no longer exists.

  • Nov. 10, 2025 - Bill Covington, retired public school teacher who spent 31 years in the classroom, teaching in Dallas ISD and Waxahachie ISD. For the last 13 years, he was an instructor at Waxahachie Global High School in Waxahachie, Texas. Concurrently, he also served as an instructor of Western Civilization, US History, Texas History and World History at Navarro College, located in Waxahachie. He will speak on "Revolutionary War Veterans Buried in Red River County and Old Miller County, Arkansas."
